Ah...wedding season. There really isn't anything more beautiful than when a couple's ideas for their dream wedding finally come together on their big day. As much as you think everything thoroughly, plan for every last-minute disaster or even have a myriad of back-up veils available, you never know how it will play out until the day of. But when it happens, it's magical, and it's perfect. Even if Aunt Ruth did get a little tipsy and accidentally set a place-card on fire, it's still perfect.
Which is why I love a good wedding story. Not only a couple's journey to the altar, but where they come from, who they are, and their vision for what they want for their special day. Every detail is meticulously thought out and decided upon.
Julie and Peter first contacted me with an idea composed of colors and ambiance. They were planning a wedding that screamed romance. Roses were the flowers of choice. And it was a white wedding...with splashes of jewel tones of greens, reds and purples.
I quickly sketched up a design for them and they loved it!

What Julie had trouble deciding upon was the fragrance; like I said earlier, she wanted something that screamed romance. So Rose was something that she wanted but was still iffy about. She said that she personally loved the scent of rose but her mother hated it and it made her nauseous. I agreed. Scents of rose and pumpkin are known to be aphrodisiacs for some people and unbearable to others. They're both very love it or hate it. She didn't want to have an assortment of fragrances and she was pretty adamant about that. So we had to decide on just one fragrance.
So I got to work at my 'laboratory' to come up with something perfect.

This is my thinking face
So I finally came up with the perfect fragrance combination. The intoxicating blend of jasmine, a slightly masculine and musky sandalwood and of course, romantic rose acted as base notes which I highlighted with cyclamen and a mix of various hillside wild flowers. I have to say, it was absolutely gorgeous. It's so romantic, and so lovely, it sums up the feeling of just being in love.
Both Bride and Mother of the Bride came into the store the next day, took whiffs of the scent and they were on board immediately. The Groom was down too, but then again, he seemed pretty chill about everything. "It's their decision," he told me. "I'm just the chauffeur."
Then I got started on making the most romantic soap I could imagine. I had a little Sinatra playing in the background while I worked, just to get in the mood. I mixed moisturizing goat milk with cleansing glycerin and natural shea and avocado butters and hydrating olive oil to create a beautiful experience for the happy couple with the vision they had for their wedding, and of course, their 270 wonderful guests.
It was so popular at the wedding and there was so much positive feedback we thought it was really important for us to actually start carrying the soap at the store. I cannot tell you how much business Julie and Peter's gorgeous wedding has brought us. Hence "I Do" was born. It has since sold incredibly well both retail and wholesale. It has also brought a lot of repeat business and we love making it every time. And of course, there is always Sinatra playing in the background.
